Comet NEOWISE is visible early dawn, NE direction of where I live, and will be visible early dawn and dusk by July 12/13th. Almost as interesting as the comet is how its name was derived: Near-Earth Object (NEO) Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). The NEO part comes from an extended mission for the WISE part, which is a NASA telescope. The acronym reminds me of a program in the The Matrix movies. The big question is, “Will it become the next Hale-Bopp?” Being so close to the 25th anniversary of Hale-Bopp, that would truly be amazing.
Perhaps in the next few days I will capture some photos like with Comet Holmes.
